Civil Service Transfer

Hey everyone,

Hopefully someone can help with a bit of advice on this...

I've recently moved from one Government Department to another but now within the Scottish Government - it was on promotion and still within the civil service.

Basically I'm regretting making the move. Does anyone know or have any experience on any HR issues, if I can request to transfer back and resign my promotion? Or what options there are, even just to get back to my original Government Department?

I thought there might've been a time-frame to do this in, if such a thing exists?

Thanks for reading.

As a fellow CS (not in Scotland), the only people who will know is HR, the only way you may go back to whence you came from is for compassionate reasons, and the fact that you dont like the new job may not qualify.

When you left your previous job was it because the Office/Dept you were working in was closing AND have you been replaced at your previous grade ?.

If you have been replaced I fear you have no chance esp as you have changed departments.

Speak to your HR Dept, they will know more.

    Thanks for getting back.

I had been looking into compassionate reasons and understand that not liking it simply won't cut it. But was hoping not to have to go that route.

I'm not sure if I have been replaced as it was an AO/Band B post working in an office where roles changed daily.

Would you suggest I contact my current HR department or previous HR?

    Many thanks.

Your new HR Department as they are the ones who now employ you.
