Anyvan too expensive? - don't always blame the Courier!

Although I am not a Courier, I have gained occasionally delivery work through Anyvan. But recently, its been getting harder and harder to win any work at all. Three weeks ago, for just one planned trip, I placed over 24 bids for work, with absolutely no result whatsoever, despite being the lowest bidder on all 24 jobs.

Last week, I needed a personal item collecting, and unable to collect myself, I decided to list the item on Anyvan.

As now both a Client AND a Courier, I was now able to see the difference between the quoted price from any Courier, and the actual price quoted to the Client, and was shocked at the outcome.

On a £160 courier bid, Anyvan quoted me £200, their markup being 25%
On a £60 courier bid, Anyvan quoted me £84, their markup now a whopping 40%

However, on asking Anyvan what their usual percentage charge would be, their response was "approximately 15%".

I think you may be able to draw your own conclusions as to why I was unable to gain any delivery work.

So use a method of advertising to a mass audience that is free. No-one is forcing you to get work or use Any Van. If it didn't work then they'd not be in business.

It is the same as people moaning about Ebay fees. If you don't like it, then don't use them. If you can find a cheaper way of accessing such a large audience then good luck to you.

Also going back to the point. I find https://www.shiply.com far better. You get the cheapest prices and have a better chance of seeing when a man and van is dodgy.

Correct me if I'm wrong OP but I believe the issue was they thought they were aware of the percentage added on. They asked and were told 15% and were obviously happy about this and continued to make offers.

When in fact the mark up was a lot more than 15%. The OP isn't here complaining that they've added the stated 15%. The issue is they have lied about what percentage they've added.

You can't really compare to eBay because eBay fees are as stated. They don't tell you they charge 15% then go on to charge 40% which is what has happened to the OP.
