Trademarking

Anyone had any bad experiences from the intellectual property office?
I am launching a business that happens to have at least 4 classifications, which would take the trademarking registration well over £1000. I don't want to risk loosing that to then re-apply later

We registered a trademark for a product once, it went quite smoothly though we did receive an objection after the proposal was published. We countered that although our product name was similar, it was in a totally different market to the objector, that was accepted and the trademark registered. That was for a name, with no logo.
Looking back I guess it was a bit risky, because we had been trading for a year or two using the name before we thought about protecting it. So if someone had objected and the objection was upheld, we'd probably have had to change the product name which would have been costly and inconvenient. So doing it before launch is probably a good idea.0 -
Thanks for info.
I've had logo's and everything else made. I know there are 100% guarantee companies but they want double the cost in some instances. Do you pay £2K and have it guaranteed or take a gamble with half the cost. It's a difficult decision0 -
I don't remember paying anything like that much, but then ours was just a name. I think we just got a form and filled it in, the guy in charge of financial stuff at the company was very much "agent-averse" so if there was a way to cut one out, we would.0
