Well the pension will keep paying put after you die if you marry your partner, so get married.

no2, call them and ask all your questions such as, how wil they pay the backdated pesnion as you should have been claiming for 2 years? This cpuld help upgrade your car.

any automatic lump sum? How much? Commutation rate if you want more (usually a bad idea).

ask them to send further forms to claim your pension setting ou any answers they give to you by phone, and get aback to us once you have asked your q's by phone.

Thanks for the advice. Phoning the PAS is top of my list already, first thing Monday.

As I said, not a major problem if I can't get a lump sum as I will have a couple of years back pension but that won't pay for the Honda Jazz (pink) that I have my eye on:D

The OP actually reached her Scheme Retirement Age two years ago.. it is not unreasonable to consider taking more lump sum and less pension if she has a particular use for the lump sum.

She says that her car is thirteen years old and that she has health problems, so a reliable vehicle might be a necessity rather than a luxury - and she might as well be "in the pink"!

Mind you, she could consider pawning the rings....:D
My OH and I got engaged in 1996. We're still not married. Couldn't see the point as he was 48 at the time and I was 44. I wear the beautiful platinum and diamond engagement ring and platinum and sapphire wedding ring and everyone assumes we are married. Can't see us bothering now!
