Buying a Coffee Machine

I've been amazed by the number of different machines on sale.
I had a look at the Tassimo and Dolce Gusto machines but some of the pods were more than 50p each. Not going to pay that.
Can anyone recommend a coffee machine which costs less than £100 and will accept the ( Nespresso ? ) coffee pods from Aldi or Lidl (which work out at 17p).

If cost is your biggest gripe, have you tried second hand models? Ebay for example? Or look on Amazon. If the taste of the coffee is more important, try sampling what the coffee is like first in Nespresso stores or if friends have any of the Aldi/Lidl examples. IMO there is little point getting a machine if you don't like the coffee it makes or if the coffee it makes is little better than instant coffee. Your taste buds will be different to mine and different to anyone else's, the only one who can tell you if you like the coffee from the machine in question is you.0

Tassimo pods are regularly on offer which brings the price down to about 20p a pod for coffees.0

Tassimo pods would be the better choice because of their low cost and offers0

Coffee pods are ridiculously expensive... a decent filter machine can cost as little as twenty pounds, and will give good service for years.0

I'm not a coffee drinker but every single other member of my family fancies themselves a coffee connoisseur!
My OH has a Senseo machine which takes tea-bag like pods which, until just before Christmas, Lidl sold for 10p each. Lidl have now switched their allegiances to Nespresso and no longer stock the pods for his machine so we import them from Holland where the Senseo machine is king. They cost 7.5p per cup.
My Dad has a Nespresso machine and it's cute. Extremely noisy compared to OH's Senseo, but takes up very little counter space.
According to my Dad (who loves Costa coffee, if that helps) the Nespresso compatible pods sold by Lidl, Aldi, Waitrose and M&S are vile. He's tried them all and hates them. He now buys them from the Nespresso website, free next day delivery, 30p ish a cup. When he pays 4 quid for a cup of coffee in Costa, he can hardly complain at 30p!
My step-daughter loves her Tassimo machine and buys the pods at Costco. The price varies between 50p and 20p per cup, depending if there's an offer on. Asda do a lot of Tassimo offers too I believe.
I have a Tassimo machine, never been out of its box, am going to put it on eBay.0 -
You can have a look at the deal Bosch Tassimo TAS1252GB @ amazon.Price looks good.0

I have had both a Dolce Gusto and A Tassimo machine. I find the flavour of the Tassimo capsules far superior and it takes up less space and I find it easier to use. I only have Costa Americano or espresso though. I don't like the milky drinks from the machines so I heat the milk in the microwave then the espresso straight into the cup of hot milk. You can see offers for Tassimo machines quite often and I got a voucher with mine for £20.00.0

Nespresso machines start at less than £100. Wait until they have a voucher offer and you will get up to £75 in vouchers when you buy a machine.0 -
I had a Dolce Gusto machine and ther range was too limited so I got bored with it.
I subsequently got a Nespresso one, and it is really good. Nespresso do a great range of coffee, and there are many alternatives now.0 -
Don't forget that for the Latte and hote chocolate type drinks Tassimo capsules contain UHT milk so that isn't to a lot of peoples tastes.
Filter coffee is much cheaper than pods. Also think about what style of coffee you drink, Nespresso only makes Espresso and Lungo Espresso (about 120ml of coffee) and you will need to water it down into an Americano if you want a longer drink.
For that reason we spent £300 on a bean to cup machine, it does filter style and espresso as well as being able to steam milk for lattes. The machine is a lot more expensive, but beans are about £9 a kilo in Costco and that lasts two months, so far cheaper than capsules. Plus for the filter style of coffee I prefer, much tastier.0
