DCA Offering Compensation

I had a debt collection agency that started chasing a debt again over six months into my BR.
I complained, they ignored me. I complained again and they acknowledged the complaint. They failed to deal with the complaint in the 8 weeks advised by the Ombudsman so I filed a complaint with the Ombudsman. As soon as the DCA were aware a complaint had been made with the FO they have offered me a small amount of compensation.
My question is, if I accept the compensation I presume it has to be paid to the OR?

i suppose you could ask the OR? They would tell you.£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
LBM 28/1/15 total debt - [STRIKE]£23,410[/STRIKE] 24/3/16 total debt - £7,298

The general rule of thumb is if the compensation is for a financial loss then it goes to the OR. If it is for pain, suffering, emotional upset then you get to keep it.
But the bottom line is speak to the OR.0 -
Yes, I will ask the OR I guess.
I have an IPA and from what I can see from guidelines on the IS website then any lump sum payments go towards paying off the agreed IPA amount. It may be that the IPA length could be reduced by the looks of the info I read?
The OR is aware of the complaint as I copied them in.0
