Changing morgage after fixed term ends

HiHope someone can help - these boards are amazing for advice.We finish our fixed term with Northern rock on 20/08. We are looking for a better deal but how do we go about it? Does anyone know the best deal about at the min?We are only looking to stay in our house for another year or so - so not a fixed term.Thanks in advanceKx

    you would be best seeing a broker as there isnt "one best deal" What is right for one is not right for another.

    You need to just ensure that your tie in period does not exceed the term in which you want to stay in your current property. You can still have any type of product like fixed, capped, trackers, discounts etc..

    If you only want a mortgage for another year or so, I would think very hard before remortgaging away from Northern Rock.

    But if you can get it, the ING Direct mortgage is a (relatively) competitive rate and they pay all the costs of remortgaging - over a short period, I think it's quite hard to beat.
