Advice Needed

Im not sure if this is the right place but any advice would be helpful.

I first contacted the CAB on 28/9/05 about my debts and after going through everyting they said the best thing for me was to ignore everything from companys and go bankrupt.
I have been doing this ever since they told me to and eventully last june i got a letter through saying i was being taken to court on 26/6/06.
I was then advised by cab not to turn up in court. The next thing i get is a letter from the company saying they got a decree against me for the payment that was on 14 July 2006 and have not heard anything ever since. I have contacted my local cab again but the money advisor has since left and to make an appointment for when the new one sarts in september.
Should everything not have been delt with by now.

I also have a second question if i get married before going bankrupt will all my debts then become joint with my partner making him liable to pay them too or just down to me still.

100% still your problem as long as they remain in your name only.

If you are going to go bankrupt make sure that you don't have ANY accounts or loans in a joint name.

The advice you received from CAB seems a little odd, but any CCJ will be superseded by the bankruptcy order.

It might be a good idea to post your questions on the BR board as well.

Have you contacted CCCS or National Debtline for advice? This would be a very good idea while you wait for CAB.

I'm a litttle confused but presumably you were hoping/expecting your creditors would make you bankrupt?

In practice not many creditors will make you bankrupt unless you have assetts because it costs them money and without assetts there is little or no return for them.

    What exactly is your question?

CLAPTON is quite correct. It can cost up to £1700 for a creditor to make a basic bankruptcy petition against an individual.

If you are determined to go through with it then you will have to do it yourself. Costs £485 or less. You can read about that here.

How to petition for your own bankruptcy

But BEFORE you do ANYTHING else PLEASE contact National Debtline or CCCS to discus your situation and available options.

    Good luck. :)
