not very good at all
No, it's not! It's also quite unusual to have one that low - I would double check with them.0 -
I have another one with them, current transfer value approx £30k, has a guaranteed annuity of £1350 a year
= £450 per £10k, so 4.5%
Even if it was higher, I am lucky to have other investments so unless it was 8% plus I will definitely be cashing in!
thanks to all for replies btw, very grateful.

Aviva called me yesterday to say that my case has been escalated to an official complaint and will be dealt with within 8 weeks. Big deal.
The on board help from the Aviva rep has been worse than useless to be quite honest.
I am going to go with Cavendish or similar for the transfer.
There must be hundreds of thousands of these Section 226 policies, after all they were the gold standard in the70s and 80s for the self employed. All I can say is if you have one and are with Aviva, you can count on no help at all.
In fact I'll start another thread, more about Aviva rather than my case in particular.
Heartfelt thanks to all posters that have helped me with this, it is truly appreciated
