Lender interest on insurance-help!

Hi, Happy Bank Holiday everyone..

Hoping someone can help!

I need to get home insurance for a house I'm due to complete on the 17th April. My solicitors have said the policy needs to note the lender's interest on it but I am finding it near impossible to do so!

Direct line say on their FAQ's they will let you enter it on the online quote system, but when I did get quote there was no where to enter it.

The only insurer that would was M&S and they declined the insurance due to it apparently being high risk flood/subsidence area, which is odd as everywhere else is offering it, and not too bad prices, and its nowhere near rivers etc, frustrating!

I have tried...Tesco, Aviva, Admiral, Allianz, Abbey, Halifax, Compare the market, Direct line and M&S so far and I'm slowly losing the will...can anyone help or has anyone else had experience of this?

Thanks in advance for any help. (cross posted in insurance/mortgages to try and get some answers) :)

What insurance options has the lender offered? It may well be slightly more expensive than what is available in the market but their interest will be automatically noted, it will be easy for you and you can change to a cheaper alternative after the first year and not bother with the notice at renewal.
  • Just to update..

Once I went through to the payment screen, Direct Line let me enter details of my lender, and according to their FAQ section they will then automatically send policy details to my lender. I'll ring tomorrow just to double check, and have printed out policy confirmation to send to my solicitor anyway, just hope its sufficient for them.

Fingers crossed for a straightforward completion

Direct Line won't be a problem, I have insured with them for about 25 years, indeed used to work for them in home insurance

I had the same on the house we moved into last week. We went with Axa and the lender seemed happy with their policy and how they named the lender.
