Spring 2015 decluttering again!

Tomorrow, it has been decided is the day to begin decluttering the loft.
Every thing out, looked over. Can we use anything? can we pass anything on to our adult children? give to charity as has not been needed for several years?

Now the question? how much do we keep?
Me! I would say as little as possible.

OH wants to keep all the suitcases. Even the heavy Carlton ones.
we have x2 large boxes of Christmas decorations - may try to reduce to x1. Lots of bric a brack, just stuff.

How much of your childrens stuff do you keep now they are adults?
I think I will make a pile for each to look over and they can take it or get rid.

How much childhood things does everyone keep?
I think maybe the photos of days gone by.

Last time I had a declutter, I Had a big box by the front door for family to take stuff. Anything left after a fer weeks went to charity shop. May be I will do that again.

    Hi OP,
i have just done this over the last few weeks, NONE of our cherubs wanted ANYTHING so it all went.

Just try to be brave and say goodbye to it, we carry memories in our hearts not in stuff.

    Good luck

    Regards

If you haven't done so already, have a read at the Kon Marie thread. You will approach your decluttering in a completely different way. I am doing the whole house prior to moving and have to say that it has made a huge difference.
Take a cuppa and read the thread for half an hour BEFORE you start. Trust me. You will put a lot less back in the loft.

    Morning everyone
9am I crawled about the loft and stuff was passed down to a waiting OH.
It was not to bad as I had got rid of some STUFF last spring too!

Left up there is x6 cases and x2 smaller ravel bags.
Christmas decorations but no tree - that went x2 years ago.
x2 child car seats. x1 old cot
Box of silver cups from DD dancing days.
    Thats about it.

Menory box is very small. Less than shoe box size. Few photos, cards given to us when babies arived, hospital bracelets.

    Made a charity box.
Few things we can use around house.
Some toys for grand kids visits - bricks, play sun tent.

Need to do thriugh large box of teddies = keep a few. Most can go.
I keep thinking of the small house programs, how much they must of got rid.

Thank you for your help Lyn, Tooties and Rosie.

Oh was helping, BUT when all the STUFF was down from loft he went off to make himself a cup of tea - and that was the last I saw of him.
I think he is now in the garden pottering. Just as well as he can be a - we must keep that person.

Right, a few more boxes to declutter. Looking good ;0)

    Another day in declutter house.

Took some unloved items to the recycle centre.
An adult DD is going to look over the STUFF and see if there is anything she wants and anything she can car boot.

    This declutter bug is catching.
OH has now done his shed and wardrobe.

Afternoon. My Marie Kondo book arrived this morning. Haven't read it but shall do tonight. Continued with my de cluttering from yesterday and just taken bag containing 5 pairs of new shoes and 2 pairs of trainers to charity shops plus two very large bags of a mixture of clothes, photo frames, books, Sony alarm clock/radio etc etc (all new). They also took two pillows, again brand new and in their original zipped bags purchased in. Also gave a large bag of wrapping paper, bottle bags, gift bags etc all new and I'd kept "just in case".

This is all before reading the book! Oh I do hope this continues and I don't get bored as I have only scratched the surface really.

Can't stop off to sort out knitting wool - promised to a friend who has people knitting for her ready for Christmas Operation Christmas child .

As long as this weather continues then so will the decluttering .
