State Pension

I am due my state pension in September this year when I will be 62 yrs and 9 months old. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do they contact me or do I have to do something? Thanks.

    Care to explain why you get it 3+ years earlier than the rest of us? Oh hang on - you're a lady!
    They will contact you and invite you to claim. You don't have to though, you can defer to get more.

    I am indeed a lady. They told me about 19 years ago I would not get pension at 60 as they were bringing us in line with you men, which I think is fair. And yes I think defferring is the way I shall go, but didn'tg know how to tell them, so thank you for your prompt reply.

    If you want to defer you simply don't claim it, you don't have to do anything else.
    Having said that, DWP do appreciate a phone call to advise them of deferment, they will note your file and confirm back to you in writing.
    The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
