Hot water temperature after Immersun fitted

We got an Immersun when our PV was installed about a month ago . Now the water is alot hotter than it used to be and we haven't altered anything on the thermostat . Is there a problem with this occurring ? The thermostat is on the element , isn't it ? This is set at 60deg but the water is alot hotter than this . The element is about a third of the way up the tank ....
Any comments ?

    Hi,
    Just a couple of thoughts....
Are you using less hot water now than you were & the water is now sitting in the tank longer being heated ?
The weather- down here in sunny Devon the sun is getting higher in the sky and hitting our panels earlier and earlier so more spare power is going to our Immersun.
Obviously the sun is out more for us now in general and our production will hopefully continue that way.
I'm no techie and I'm sure others will advise you but if I were you and was that concerned about the water being too hot ( perhaps for child safety etc ) then I would adjust the thermostat down until I am happy with the water temp out of the hot tap.
    Good Luck

Were you using your immersion for hot water pre SP?

If you were using gas to heat the water, the cylinder stat could be set at a lower temp than the immersion:D

Have never used the immersion before the Install ...... Where is the cylinder stat ? I presume the immersion one is the one a third of the way up ?

:eek:Cylinder stat is usually 1/3 of the way up

Immersion stat should be in the top of the immersion:)

    Yes, we also had this.

Usually because the immersion is in the top of the cylinder.

We have an iboost which is the same idea. The thermostat is on the immersion heater which on our tank is approx 1/4 of the way up from the bottom. On ours, you have to take the cover off the immersion to get to its thermostat. Are you sure its the immersion thermostat that is set to 60 and not the tank one that controls the gas?

You could of course test it yourself. Turn the immersion off, or put the Immersun in holiday mode and go back to using the boiler to heat the water. Run the hot tap and measure the temperature, say with a medical thermometer, or a cooking one. Turn the immersion back on and test again. At least you will know whether there is an issue or whether it is just perception.
