Not at all ...if there was negative equity at the end of the day it would have to be shared in proportion .I bet if there was negative equity you'd be wanting 50% from the other party to make up for the shortfall.
You can't have your cake AND eat it.
If one party had only put 40% into the pot then you would expect them to have a 60% liability for the shortfall.
If two people buy a lottery ticket @ £2 one person puts in £1.20 and one person puts in £0.80p should the winnings be shared 50/50 or 60/40It's not just about the money0 -
look at it another way after 96 mortgage payements (8 years) he contributed to 18 of them. 18/96 is 18.75%
how the mortgage was covered for the rest of the time is irrelevant, he made no contribution
I like your thinking here. However there is a 4yr (48 mortgage payments divided by 2 to cover both you and girlfriend = 24) period when the property was rented out. So 24 + 18= 42/96. This gives you 44% share.
Its going to be difficult but good luck.0 -
Parents reimbursed.
6/8 years 50/50
2/8 years no mtg contribution, repairs or improvement by you, but presumably you had to pay to live elsewhere.
75/25 in her favour is fair or 50/50 and you repay 25% mtg payments for 2 years and 50% of all improvements as per Silks post above.0
