You'd be suprised how many people even without the health issues you are living with e.g depression, have yet to learn it!

You are dealing with your finances now, so give yourself a break and focus on getting through this difficult period as best as you can with the advice you have had and maintaining your health.

The sad thing is...I'm 40, and should've learnt this years ago!

Thoughout life you never stop learning. Until you've experienced something personally you've never lived. The key is obviously not to make the same mistake again.

So, I go to half pay for May onwards, meaning my paypacket at the end of May will be 50% less.

I have no room for a £10 pay cut, let alone 50%.

Forgive me if I have read this incorrectly, but a 50% drop in pay does not necessarily mean a 50% drop in your wage packet, depending on your circumstances. I had a prolonged period off work a few years ago. If memory serves me correctly, going onto half pay dropped my pay packet by about a third. Not an answer to your problem, but worth bearing in mind.

I just assumed that it would be exactly half, and thats what I've been [STRIKE]panicking[/STRIKE] working to. I hope you are right!!!!

I won't actually know until the end of May, but if that is the case, then things will be a bit easier than I'm planning.

I guess it wouldn't hurt for me to contact payroll and ask them directly.
