skin after weight loss

I am currently on a diet and I am losing weight fast
the problem is I *think* I see my skin more fluffy, loose
are there any factors, like weight loss speed, exercising, etc that affect if your skin will be loose after weight loss or not?
or it is purely genetical thing?
are there any serious research on this?
anecdotally I think I have heard that losing weight too fast will make your skin loose, but I am not sure if that's the case

If you're young(ish), haven't been overweight for too long and don't lose weight too quickly, your skin should tighten up as you get thinner.

If you're older, have been overweight for a long time and lose weight quickly, there's a much higher chance of being left with saggy skin.

I am 32 and I have been fat for the last 4-5 years
I can't control how fast I am losing weight, I am just losing fast!
is there a chance the skin to remain saggy? or it will re-tighten 100%?
  • I don't think it will retighten 100%, I think that's a high expectation and a lot will depend on the type of skin you have.

When I lost 8st fairly rapidly, I was pleasantly surprised that the areas I thought would be really saggy like my belly and bum, weren't too bad and areas like my arms didn't tighten up much.
    Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
    And now the final frame
    Love is a losing game

    Try increasing your calorie intake.

Exercising can help, like toning exercises/weights. This can add muscle to your body - as long as you eat enough protein.

Diet without exercise can cause very saggy skin in some people.

Your aim should be only 3lbs per month. Slow and steady also means it will take longer to put back on again.

Power plates are meant to be quite good for skin tightening.

I am losing weight at the moment and have lost 59 1/2 Ibs since end of December, 4st 1 of it this year. So far I don't have loose skin and i've been overweight most if not all of my adult life but I do exercise and have increased muscle too so hopefully this will help. I have heard that drinking lots of water helps but have no idea if true but I do drink 3 litres a day of it anyway. Whatever the outcome good luck and i'm hoping i'll just accept any and be glad i've lost the weight!

If your weight loss is uncontrollable then you need to seek medical attention.

If you're just losing lots through choice or lack of care then you need to slow it down - you have a choice.
