7 in 10 teens experience cyber bullying and as a result, 10% try to kill themselves and 45% never tell anybody about it through fear.
Just saw this online and wanted to share as it's a very close issue to my heart, having seen my daughter go through cyber bullying at school. Would really appreciate if you could all sign - it's to ban a new anonymous cyber bullying app:

The app is not available in the UK.
It's not much different to any other social network or online forum though, is it. Most of us are anonymous here too.0 -

"It was to our horror that a unnamed young person emailed us today to speak of how a new anonymous cyber bullying app called 'Burnbook' had caused a significant amount of distress to her and her friendship group after anonymous rumours and abuse were posted about them in a public page dedicated to their individual school on the 'Burnbook' app.
Inspired by the 'Mean Girls' movie, the app actively encourages young people to post anonymised abuse about others in the public domain. The creator of the app, Jonathan Lucas, regularly takes to their official Twitter page to Tweet abuse to anybody in dispute of the app.
We are calling on greater regulation of apps that are designed to defame, harass or abuse minors and adults from Apple App Store and Google Play app store and would like as many people as possible to support the repulsion of this vulgar, tasteless and malicious website.
All data has been taken from Ditch the Label - one of the UK's largest anti-bullying charities. To help support our work, please text DITC12 £5 to 70070 to fund support for 1 young person."
Abusive comments can be reported here and adults are better at dealing with them than teens.ally.0 -
But teens can register here too?
In fact, they can register anywhere.
I'm pretty certain there are already apps that do this, even Whatsapp could be configured to be the same.
However the problem occurs with the free-for-all element.
As with life, abuse will never stop.
What's more alarming is if someone ends up killing themselves because of it, the people that caused it don't feel guilty in the slightest.0 -

Are you saying that 10% of teens try to kill themselves through cyber-bullying?0 -

I read it as 10% of 7 out of 10
so 0.7 out of 10.0 -
