Royal Mail Special Delivery

Hi all. I have to buy a special delivery before 1pm to send some valuble items from my local PO.H aving never bought special delivery before I just wondered if I would be able to buy it this Thursday because as we all know its good Friday the next day and obviously their wont be any deliveries then and I wont have time to take them to the PO tomorrow or next Tuesday so will have to go on Thursday. Will my local PO let me do it.

It should be delivered Saturday as thats the next posting day after Thursday because as you say, there are no deliveries on Good Friday.

Bit confused though, firstly you say could you buy it Thursday and then you say you won't have time to go tomorrow, which is Thursday? and then you say you will have to go on Thursday?

Yes, the PO will accept it - but if you want Saturday delivery it costs extra, so make sure you clarify when you purchase.

I posted late Tuesday night that's why I said I couldn't take it today. And if I don't want Saturday delivery I assume it will be delivered next Tuesday.

How did you post it on Tuesday when your post dated today said that you hadn't bought it yet?

This is why I said If you go tomorrow then it will be delivered Saturday if you pay for it but if not then, yes it will be Tuesday.

When I said post I meant I posted this thread on here not I posted the items.

If you post today, Thursday then the likelihood is the item will arrive on Saturday. Unless you specifically need it there for Saturday I wouldn't bother with the Saturday guarantee surcharge. I send SD on Fridays and most arrive on the Saturday even thought he guaranteed date is the Monday.

The SD guarantee bought today is for by 1pm Tuesday.

Having sent many SD items I can say the Saturday guarantee is a bit of a con as I've never paid it but my SD's have always been delivered on the Sat if posted on the Friday. I suspect if you live in a remote part of the UK and are due some bad weather then it gives RM a compensation get out clause but apart from that?
