Hi
My OH has been discharged for about 6 months now and has a basic account with nationwide. As many others on this board had made testament, they won't give him a debit card. He really needs one because his self employed work means he often needs to go and buy materials at short notice during his working day when it'd waste valuable work hours so traipse into town and go to a bank (we live in a v rural area).
Was thinking of trying co-op for a visa electron, or Yorkshire bank which appears to offer a maestro card: does anyone know if yorkshire bank take discharged BRs?
Thanks!

I think he'll have more luck with the Co-op, to be honest. Their Cashminder account is one of the recommended ones for BRs & comes with the Visa Electron debit card - now the backlog in applications has been cleared, people seem to be receiving their cards within a week of applying.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Hi!Jesster OH is selfemployed and BR he uses Coop account for his payments purchases and dd of NI without any problem.Only his business transactions go through this we have a joint Coop account for my(also BR) pay and his pay (dd from his account to joint) and all household transactions.
Very freindly staff and can phone 24/7 talk to a real person, use bank and Post Office for payments and withdrawels + most cash points.
Hope that helps. Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j0
