My family are in the "shall we- shan't we go on holiday" mode at present. We have a Mon-Fri break caravan holiday booked in our favourite resort on the Norfolk coast. £50 deposit paid, and £200 left to pay. Yes we deserve a holiday, have cancelled all cable chanels, now only pay TV licence, cut down on buying new clothes, will only buy from ebay or charity shop. Kids have cut right back on clubs, etc. Only shop for food at Aldi/Netto. The question is this. Should we borrow the money to pay off the holiday, or should we cancel and loose £50. (We have spending money saved in loose change in a pot, which we gather throughout the year) If we borrow the money, we can pay it back out of the family allowance.
My husband says I, he and the kids deserve a holiday, so I think we will bite the bullet and go for the break. Sometimes you have to "live a little" to make money saving worth the effort.keep smiling,

I agree ,take the holiday ........................
now if you were saying you needed £500 to pay it off and £400 to take with you .......I'd say best to think about cancelling if your serious about sorting finances out
within reason is the key

For those with no debt, the general rule is to live within ones means i.e. only do/buy those things you can afford to. If necessary, save up so you have the money to do/buy whatever it is you need.
When in debt, one generally has to live way, way below ones means in order to pay off the debt and purchases that are optional are generally best avoided. The last thing you want to do is increase your debt.
So Mr Mourinho .... your plan seems to be to increase your debt. To post that on the Debt-Free Wannabe Board is .... a little odd, to say the least. Hence, you are not getting support for your idea.
If you want to be debt-free, we can help. If you want us to endorse increasing your debt, then I think you might be better on another Board, as we're all fanatical about being debt-free here.
Good luck, whatever you do. And when your debt gets unmanageable, come back for some sound advice. But be prepared to cut out unnecessary expenses, like holidays, even though they're very tempting.

Thanks for the link, Foxy. Very interesting and he doesn't seem to have learned much over the past few months.:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0 -
china girl, take the holiday, the money you will spend on it you would spend at home anyway and you have a plan (money coming in) that will pay off the borrowed money v. quickly

I wouldn't go to Magaluf again if you paid ME 500 quid! Horrible place. These days I choose my holidays on the strength of there being as few British people there as possible!0
