Tesco Special Offer Promise Voucher

Thought I should share this with you all.

I went in to my local Tesco yesterday to take advantage of their 1/2 price Bold 2 in 1 liquidtabs - 33 washes for £5 instead of £10. Sounded like a good deal to me but low and behold the shelves were empty... I enquired at the till, who in turn enquired with a supervisor who went off to check, and was told that new stock would be arriving that evening. I asked if they did a raincheck voucher like other supermarkets and was told no. Part of me didn't believe this so I emailed customer service. Here's an extract of what they said:

"We do have what we call a Special Offer Promise Voucher.

Our Special Offer Promise states that if a product which is on offer goes out of stock, such as Buy One Get One Free, then we will issue the customer with a voucher that allows them to get the item at the offer price next time they visit the store even if the offer has finished.

Special Offer Promise Vouchers can only be issued against products displaying the offer on a red and yellow Shelf Edge Label and not a blue and white one."

There you have it, straight from the horse's mouth so don't take no as an answer next time you are in store! Although if you do you might get a £10 Moneycard in the post like Tesco is sending me on this ocassion. :j

I would have also gone and seen the manger in the store with the head office email and asked for the for the rain check voucher just to prove a point.

Tesco's wonder why people are leaving them in droves when even their local floor staff don't know their own company rules.

So let me get this right ...

If I go into Tesco and a few of the items I want to buy are on offer (yellow SEL) but are out of stock, I can get vouchers that'll get me those items at the offer price at a later date?

The above scenario happens very often in my Tesco! Who do I have to see? Do I need to take photos of the empty shelf & SEL? How do I prove that I wanted to buy them on that day?

Yup! And if that doesn't work just email customer services.

Best bet is probably to ask at the customer service desk in store, the check out staff just ask a supervisor, who in my case was more interested in getting back to work than helping a customer! Don't think you have to prove anything, as long as you are in store and want an item on offer that is out of stock they should give you a voucher.
