My mum took DS out wearing his brand new (albeit cheapish but still) jeans and returned with black stains on them from that rubbery stuff you get in play-parks now. Two washes with bold and much rubbing later they were still there. Decided to try Fairy one more time then wash, rubbed in a decent amount of fairy to a lather, then washed as normal. Now the stains are completely gone :). I know it is not grass but I imagine a common stain too!
PS This is why I tend not to spend too much on any one item for a 5 yr old boy!! Primarni, H and M, Matalan etc have lovely summer things which don't cost too much, and although still annoying, it isn't so bad! Also second hand jeans, if you can get them too.

I'm sold with the tooth paste idea. I'll have to try that out.

I know this is an old thread but it still comes up in a Google search.
A big thank you to whoever suggested toothpaste for removing grass stains. I just tried the toothpaste on a pair of cream cricket trousers (100% polyester) with bad grass stains on the knees.

I wet the stain slightly, added toothpaste scrubblng lightly with a nail brush so stain was well covered (worked the toothpaste into the fabric with the brush.) Left about 15 mins scrubbing gently from time to time. Rinsed and stain had almost gone. Re-applied toothpaste for five minutes and now stains have completely gone. (Used a whitening toothpaste as that's all I had--Colgate Max white one.) I'll now buy a cheap one to use just for grass stains.
