Studying while bankrupt

Hello again, has anybody who has gone bankrupt studied through the ou and were you able to get a grant to help with fees etc. Hubby who will be going bankrupt soon wants to retrain so that when he is able to work will have qualifications in a new job, as due to current health issues can not work the same type of job he had before.

Thanks for any advice.

  • no idea about the OU, but my husband is a university student on a BSc course and he has had full fees and living allowance paid by Student Loans while we have been (and still are!) BR x

OU remission of fees is means tested based on your income but remission of fees is usually only available if you do not already have a higher level qualification. If eligible, you might also get a small grant to cover the cost of books and equipment.
If I remember rightly there used to be an eligibility checker on the OU website. If not, call the student support helpline - they are pretty good.
  • Thank you for the replies there were really useful and helpful.
