Winning Etiquette?

Hi All

Being entering competitions here for a around three months now, and am starting to win some small prizes. (Xbox game, PC game, USB flash drive)

However, I am not sure what the correct etiquette is when you win.

Should I write to, and thank, the person whose name is on the letter that accompanies the prize?

I don't feel right not saying thank you, but what do other winners do?

Your thoughts please?

Cheers!

Mark

I have always written on the holidays I have won abroad and posted/emailed one or two photos to show them what a great time we had and they have always replied thanking me for letting them know. For some of the kids comps I have emailed them to say how happy the kids were with their prizes but often you when you receive a prize in the post their is no contact details so you are not sure who the prize is from. At the end of the day its up to you but for big prizes I would always write and say thank you.

If I know who's sent them I reply with thanks. Sometimes, just a book or something arrives in the post with no identifying letter accompanying it. That makes it harder.

The easiest of all are those who notify by email. I reply with thanks.

Im starting to feel mean or selfish now. Ive never really thanked the promoters, well actually maybe I have for the ones where you have to send your address details. I just put a post on here saying what I won and thanking the OP again

I have in the past sent a little thank-you card, especially to the smaller companies that I have won prizes from. I tend to email the larger companies, but Its not always clear to me who I should thank, as larger Companies sometimes use PR firms to run the comps for them, and they will then send out the accompanying letter with the prize, on behalf of the actual company who donated the prize:confused: .

IMHO I think its good for your comping Karma to say thank-you :)
