Sick note expiry.

Probably a question that has been asked a few times but I am unsure.
I got my fit note on the 23rd of march and it says that I have an illness and "This will be the case for 2 weeks or from 23/03/2015 to 06/04/2015.
Does this mean I am due back to work on the 07/04/2015?
Thanks.

Marleyboy - You are, indeed, a legend.0 -
Your understanding of the dates is correct, assuming they haven't selected the bit about having to see the doctor again before returning.0
-
@marleyboy - Yeah the dates threw me off as I got the sick note on the Monday so works out 14 and a half days I guess.
@lesley74 - I photocopied the note before sending the original and just checked it below the dates it says "I will/will not need to assess your fitness for work again at the end of this period."
Will not is crossed out so I am guessing a visit to the docs next Monday 06/04/2015 before my sicknote expires?0 -
Since neither is crossed through then no reason that you should need to visit the doctor again unless you have directly been told so by him because of the reason you are off.
Edit: so I misread that above...0 -
If 'will not' is crossed out then yes you do need to see the doctor, preferably on or before the last date on the fit note.
ShadowPuma - I think you have mis-read the post. OP states that 'will not' is crossed out.0 -
Just realised the doctors are closed Friday/Monday due to easter.
What shall I do regarding seeing a doctor should I try and get an early appointment tomorrow? Would they be able to issue me a sicknote from after the other expires if required?
Thanks.0 -
They can backdate the sickline, assuming they think you need one. It's a risk. I'd say try to get in tomorrow if at all possible.0
-
I know several GPs who will not backdate a sick note. I would explain on the phone what the issue is and then if they tell you to wait until Tuesday they will be aware that they will need to backdate it.0

All sorted today I have a quick question tho if anyone can help... Do I just need to post the new sick note to my workplace or do I need to ring up and inform them about my visit to the doctors and the issue of the new note?
