FTB - appealing a mortgage decision

Hello again.
Just wanted to post a quick update to get everyones thoughts.
We heard back from our mortgage adviser through Santander today after she put in an appeal regarding this returned direct debit fee.
The underwriter has came back questioning why my partners wages have increased on the past three payslips, which has already been explained to them, because she's had a promotion.
So our mortgage advisor has got back in touch with the underwriter, and my partners manager has wrote a letter confirming this is a permanent position so the wage increase if a reflection for the future.
I'm worried i'm feeling optimistic because they've asked more questions rather than decline it again?0 -
Just wondered what the result of your appeal was. We are in the same situation with Natwest. We are applied for a mortgage in October which was approved. Our house sale fell through and have reapplied for the mortgage now it is going again. I have a returned DD fee on my account in March from a returned DD from PayPal where I accidently pressed DD drop down on PayPal instead of paying by card for a different account. On the same day I paid it by card but still got charged for a returned DD fee.
What was your decision on appeal?
We got a call today saying it was against lending policy as the fee only came out last month.
My other half was too gobsmacked to ask the underwriter any questions at the time and our mortgage advisor doesn't work on Tuesday's. When I rang the underwriters to quiz them our case worker had gone home for the day so can't do anything until tomorrow. My mind is in overdrive now.0 -
Hello,
Our appeal was successful!
We went direct with Santander rather than with a broker and they wrote an appeal letter and resubmitted our mortgage application. It then went to a senior underwriter and they approved it.
It did take around two weeks for it to be looked at and approved and it was a very stressful time.
If you give all of the information to your adviser/broker hopefully they'll work hard to appeal it for you!
Good luck!0 -
Hi. I just thought I'd let you know my appeal was successful too, it only took a few hours to sort out today. Plus I got the bank fee, which was causing the grief, refunded too on the basis that there is money going into the account regularly and they could see it was genuine error not a money problem due too amounts in my other accounts. The problem wasn't the returned direct debit as that was outside the window the problem was it took the bank 3 months to take the fee.but no longer and issue. Always worth an appeal. After reading your response last night I managed to get a few hours sleep without stress.0

Excellent!
I'm really pleased you got it sorted.
It's so nerve-wracking and stressful whilst you wait for a decision, i'm also glad you didn't have to wait too long!0 -
Well done and good luck. Remember your mortgage is the top priority every month with out fail0

Hi there,
We have made a mortgage application to Santander through mortgage brokers. After a week we have been told it is declined due to discrapency on the paper work. As we needed a quick move, we have made everything so in rush. I was working part time and on hourly basis and my husband works full time. I only went back to work (at the same workplace) beginning of July and had a letter from my employer saying that I am now working full time and annual gross will be £25k.
But on my part time payslips the accountants wrote my name and title wrong which I have never realised before and they requested for them to be corrected which I have asked our accountant firm to correct for the last 3 months. Since I work on hourly basis and each month I get paid different sums to my account, the corrected payslips said exact same amount for each month where as the previous ones were showing some other figures. So this was not checked by me cos I never thought that I will re-do the payslips. Our mortgage broker did not check either and that was submitted to Santander.
We were so stressed out and now waiting to appeal to the decision.
Has anybody been in the same situation before? Advise please.
