Finally, a solution to one of the main cycling problems

Obviously it's a frequent complaint on this forum about being unable to find any cycling clothing that allows you to carry concealed weaponry but the good news is there's finally a solution on the way:

http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/new-bike-gear-previews/jersey-made-your-gun?adbid=582271168981307392&adbpl=tw&adbpr=17900130&cid=social_20150329_42832576

I'm still looking for a decent pannier mount to carry the shotgun though, it's a pain having to use bungee cords.

On a serious note, it's a bit scary this sort of thing exists but thankfully not for here.

I'd just use the bicycle as a weapon itself.
I imagine getting a chainring to the head would be enough to fend off maniacs

See once again bicycles fail, cars are a far superior weapon compared to a pathetic 20 lbs of steel and rubber.

I like how the article links to a reasonable 'how to talk to aggressive drivers' article, as if concealed carrying a weapon is a valid second resort. I suppose in many places over there, it is.

I'm glad it's illegal to go around in public with a tool that's primary purpose is killing people. Common sense really; why would you go around with tools that you don't need?

I like to think of myself as placid and law abiding. Had I been carrying a firearm around my whole cycling life however I would almost certainly be in prison for murder (manslaughter if the judge was a cyclist :D). If you need a gun for protection, you might want to reconsider your route choice, or is this victim blaming...

Sadly, it's the jury that gets to decide whether or not it's murder or manslaughter, and I suppose the chances are that most of them would be motorists, therby rendering a guilty verdict a virtual certainty. You might be lucky and get a cycling judge who would go easy on the sentence, but it's only going to be a year or two at best.:)

Strapping a shotgun to the top tube works quite well

Pffft. I'd rather have my trusty sub-machine gun handlebar mount:

Good point, tis for the best then that the most dangerous item I have on a bike ride is a full water bottle.

Fill it with undiluted Ribena. Totally harmless, but it takes forever to clean off a windscreen.
