O/S Daily Monday 30th March 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's dry at tthe moment but looking to rain later on. Hubby has just left for work and my girls are all tucked up in bed and I'm not expecting to see them for quite a few hours yet. I've been full of cold but I feel loads better now, just in time for my annual MOT at the doctors this morning. I have to be there at 10am for blood tests and then I have a 20 minute appointment with my GP which I am not looking forward to. He is a lovely man but I am expecting to be told off for not keeping to my diet and for taking a medication break. Oh well, I am a grown woman and if he nags me too much I will just sit on him and squash him :rotfl::rotfl:.
I haven't been posting for a little while but I have been reading along and cheering or commiserating as appropriate. There certainly has been lots going on in our little community.
I am being kind to myself and having an easy week of cooking, well I say cooking, it's more like open a box/packet and put it in the oven. Of course the girls are happy as it's all the food they like but I am adding extra veg to everything much to their disgust. Tonights offering is going to be chicken kievs, mash and peas, green beans and carrots. Hubby will be having garlic chicken as he can't eat butter.
Well that's all from me today, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy but dry at the moment, rain forecast for later. Weather was awful for most of the day yesterday, starting with just steady rain, then a really heavy downpour with lightening and hailstones, looked like it was going to brighten up, then went dark again, was really windy too. Much calmer this morning thankfully.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. Both boys still asleep in their pits. I’m just having a peaceful cuppa and brekkie.
Work will be busy today – deep joy! Worked on Saturday and couldn’t believe how quickly the time passed, we were steady but not horrendously busy.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, Yorkshires and gravy – all came together nicely and the meat was excellent, some of the nicest we’ve had in ages. LO’s too, all safely in the fridge, so that will be tomorrow nights dinner, tonight we’re having chicken pieces – will do a HM egg and mushroom fried rice but need some sort of sauce, need to stop at SM this morning to get the milk for work so will have a quick look to see if I can get a jar/packet of something suitable.
We did get a couple of jobs done yesterday so those have been crossed off the list.
Keep safe and well x

Morning dumpling, thanks for starting. Morning too to one and all. (((((BIG HUG))))) if you need one. A bit wild here this morning but, so far, it's dry!
Plans were scuppered a bit yesterday morning as DS called in for coffee on his way shopping. So we never got to Sainsbo's for the "free" microwave! Nor did we get the caravan tv from Cur*ry's as out of stock! So awaiting it on click and collect. Must get to Sainsbo's later today with my £40 voucher as it runs out end of the month and it would break my heart to waste it!!
We got to DGD's Theatre School Showcase in the afternoon (nothing would have stopped me!!) Aw she looked so cute doing her dance routines and didn't put a foot wrong, bless her! Overall it was a good show with the older ones doing a mix of musical theatre, Irish dancing, solo ballet spots, etc. Mr TA looked a bit bored, except for when Maisie was doing her routines and then he perked up!
A trip over to the caravan planned for today to try and sort out the gas leak smell (thanks again nmic for the tips) and if we can't solve it we'll have to drive to Pateley Bridge to the gas stockist and see if he can help. Just packed a few things from the freezer to take with us for lunch as can't do with going hungry (though our store cupboard there is well stocked if need be!)
I've just got the slow cooker on the go with a big pot of stew to come back to. I think we'll be ready for something quick and warming when we get home!
Hope all goes well Hester, I am cringing to even think about it and I would have to be strapped down I'm sure.
Take care all, have a good day if you can xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
HH - Hope all goes well at the hospital, sounds horrible.
Dumpling, I'm sure the Drs appt will be fine.
Wet, cold and very miserable here, so much for the start of summer time! Washing on the airers which seems to be the norm for now.
Sorted all my clothes yesterday and have 2 big bags to go to the charity shop, we get bags through the door all the time but not sure if I want to leave it out for them or take it to my usual charity shop, never quite sure if they are the charity they say they are.
Just 4 days at school this week then we stop for the holidays, it's been a long old slog this term.
Hope you all have a good week, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
What a shocking night it was here, just hours of hailstones and blustery wind. Hope it dies down for the sake of my visitors.
Plans for today are totally dependent on the weather and so range from being curled up on the sofa with a book to hill walking.
Dumpling...we whizzed through the SM yesterday picking up stuff to heat up / minimally cook for the week too. No shame!
May have to get up now.
Happy Monday everyone.0 -
Good Morning All,
I do hope everyone is well.
So far it looks like its going to be a bright day (here is hoping).
I have had the most awful cold since Friday and its not for leaving despite me issuing it with eviction papers.
I have my usual long list of chores for today but i am not too hopeful of getting all of it done.
Have a warm, safe and happy day everyone,
Regards:j0 -

Haha, brilliant! :T :rotfl:
I have a confession – I have a pair of crocsNot only that, they're not real ones but cheap copies, which makes it even worse
I'm in and out of the garden so much now, I don't want muddy shoes but it's a pain to keep putting wellies on every time I go out there. Plus Scampi keeps dragging my wellies up the stairs, lol, so I have to put them up high in the utility room. Far too much faff for me
They came in through the front door when new, I promise they will not cross the threshold in the other direction. Ugly, ugly things

Everyone's gone off to work so I'm going to attempt my usual monday morning clean-up. Not sure how well it'll go, Scampi likes to help with everything and ends up causing chaosHe's settled in quite well and is comfortable around us all. Everyone's working hours were erratic last week, this week is back to normal so I'm hoping to get a proper routine going with him. I've got no plans to go out (apart from walks). The rescue centre said there will be a honeymoon period lasting between 1-3 weeks, then he'll probably be extra work for a while – I think it's starting now

Two breakfast bars for breakfast (easier to count calories theres 150 in each so that's 300 calories for breakfast:D), 3 slices of bread for dinner with filling (another 350 or whatever for dinner) tea is whatever I'm doing for tea. I wouldn't say its healthy but at least I can stay stable on it. Fruit is full of sugar so I am told so ive cut down on that but fill my plate with veggies at tea time instead. Cant cut down on milk as I need it for me old bones but at least its semi skimmed.:rotfl: Mind you, yesterday I pigged out a bit.:o
'You need to go out more' Hubby says..... 'Sod off' I told him 'I like being a recluse'.
Anyway, I am off into the 'room of doom' (sons bedroom). Thank goodness he's tied the handles and taken downstairs the contents of his waste paper bin down (Wheres the being sick smiley when I need it?). Wish me luck.
Onwards and forwards,
