Fighting for Bankruptcy Annulment

In Jan Capquest hit me with a bankruptcy charge for non-payment of an old BoS card debt. Background is that I had been trying to work full time (self employed) and look after 93 yr old Mum for some years and as it got more demanding, my own life and paperwork went on hold. I had paid Capquest one of 3 payments in 2014 but then put my head in the sand. I had the funds to pay off the rest and set about Annulment, meaning I had to pay anything else I owed anyone, inc HMRC and a few other bits. Receiver v helpful. Said I could keep working and keep my current bank account with First Direct. But the bank closed my account one day, having seen my name in the Gazette. I had funds, and explained annulment was imminent but they said House rules. I opened a Metro cash account but it's almost impossible to keep working now. Dealing with HMRC has been v hard because unknown to me they closed my account and showed a zero balance to pay. What they don't tell you is that they move your account to another Dept (they are not allowed to tell you this) so sure enough there is money to pay, inc advance tax for this year. Ironically my Mum died the day before I was handed a Court notice. Now I have inherited some money but I have nowhere to put it where I can pay out to others. Annulment due in 3 weeks because HMRC only came forward the day before my March Court appearance and there was no time to arrange payment. You strive to get clean and get thrown back at every stage it seems.

HMRC should have been included in the bankruptcy. You can open another bank account. Coop or Barclays.

Perhaps that is why the OP's tax account showed 'zero'?

You cannot open a Coop account if you are BR.

Coop, barclays and nationwide all let us keep the account, just downgraded to basic. Op said he had an advance payment for tax this year. But the letter we got from hmrc told us that anything up to 2015 on the old utr was included in bankruptcy and that if we wanted to continue being self employed we'd have to re register and get a new utr.

Co-op will open a Cashminder before BR, or, once Discharged, but not whilst Undischarged.

Nationwide closed my account but allowed me to open a basic account with them again when I was discharged. Most banks will close the accounts the only 2 who are consistent and allow you to keep them are the Coop (if opened before BR) and Barclays.
