Hello,
This is my first attempt at asking a question, although I have been following this site religiously for the past 6 months and with the advice given I have successfully reclaimed £7K in Bank charges - BIG THANKS!:j
My question is this; during a bad money spell, we incurred several charges for failed direct debits by missing our mortgage payments with Rooftop. Can we claim these back? I have written and requested a refund but they replied saying that these were administration charges and threfore not reclaimable. Can anyone advise me on this one, please? I have seen similar questions on the forum, but never the answer.
Regards,SJ

No as they are a service charge not a penalty charge.0

Thanks for that. Just out of interest, how do they fiffer from the Bank Charges for failed DD payments then? As well as Failed Direct Debit Charges of £30 a time, they have also charged me £25 for arrears letters, £75 Arrears management fees and a £30 Broken arrangement fee. I understood the Banks were obliged to charge a reasonable amount to cover costs, is this not the same for Mortgage Companies? I'm not questioning your reply, I just want to be clear in my own mind.
Regards,
