I have just started using a jug water filter, mainly as I live in a hard water area and don't want my new hot water dispenser getting scale in.
They recommend changing it every month but is that really necessary? I don't use a lot of water as there is only me using it.
My filter is one of those with the Elemaris meters but I suspect all that is, is a fancy way of measuring time as it seems to indicate replacement in four weeks.
How often does everyone change their filters, is there a way of telling when it needs changing without relying on the manufactures recommendations which I am sure are designed to get you to change it before really necessary.
Thanks

I change mine when it starts tasting funny (and I use it for cooking at well) - when it can't filter out the vile taste of my tap water it clearly needs renewing... this is sometimes more than every 30 days.0

To be honest I can't notice a taste in the waterbut I have never minded the taste of tap, like I said I am only using it to make my appliances last longer, if it wasn't for that I would be happy to carry on drinking plain tap water

I always go over the recommended time to change. When the water starts going through the filter quite slowly, then I take that as a sign it needs changing. Usually i manage to eek out an extra 3 or 4 weeks On top of the recommended time to change it.:staradmin: June NSD's 2/19:staradmin: Sealed Pot #460 :staradmin: £/day £185 saved :staradmin: W.S.C 2015 #45 :staradmin: F.P. 2/24 months :staradmin:0
