Hi,
Wondering if you could offer any insight or help into an issue I have at the moment...
Rather stupidly took out a wonga loan whilst at University, which defaulted and was added to my credit file in 2012, the original amount was for around £600, currently listed on my credit file at around £1350, from me leaving university had no contact from Wonga about this money and buried my head in the sand about paying this back, after moving home decided to face up to my issues and attempted to contact them via letter to try and set up a payment arrangement with them to no avail.
This has been passed to various debt collector companies/solicitors who all appear to be linked. I've sent the standard 'credit agreement' letter from this website asking for clairification of interest etc several times to various companies, accompanied with a lovely cheque for £1 for the convenience of sending the agreement, all of which have resulted in the debt 'conveniently' moving on to another collector with them writing to inform me. Whenever this debt is moved however, i receive no demands for money however I want to pay this money off as I want to start sorting out my credit rating with the hope of finally getting a mortgage in the near future (ha!) any ideas of what to do going forward as I feel I am hitting my head against a brick wall with the situation, I have tried to contact Wonga directly but they don't seem to remember me as a customer and can never find me and want me to call their customer services which I refuse to do as they are manipulative.
Anyhow, sorry for rambling but has anyone any advice going forward as to where I can go with this? I have no official proof of sending the letters aside dated copies I have, unfortunately, although I sent all letters recorded, have since lost the receipts?
Any help would be much appreciated following a meeting with the bank about mortgages and what to do!
Thanks ...:j

If you want to pay off the debt and Wonga want you to contact customer services then contact customer services.0

Should they not have told you what to do? x

Sorry, is this fact? Customer Services are also the complaint handlersbut you don't have to trust that.
I'm going to have to call Vanquis myself Monday, c'mon we can do this!0 -

My issue isn't that they've asked me to ring, it's that they have 'customer service' email assistants who have no knowledge of who I am and direct me to their number, if they can add the debt to my credit file the least they can do is know who I am! I am unsure as to whether I should be compensated for the misuse of accounts that have happened recently... The bank told me to write to the financial ombudsmen but wanted some more advice before I did0 -

Then this is what you do and it may be quicker to call the Financial Ombudsman as they can assist a lot sooner then they use to - rather then here, you'll see on the consumer action group forum - payday loans forum there have been measures of hope and success so don't give up, although it may go against if you've haven't tried to communicate with the lender first at length is the way I look at it
Either way I don't feel I can say anymore except hope you get the answers needed0 -
OP. If the default is correct, and was added in 2012, then unfortunately it remains on your credit file until 2018. You are unlikely to be accepted for a mainstream mortgage with a default on your file.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.DF0
