Can you access the deferred benefits at age 55?
Presumably you had looked into taking early retirement and any actuarial reduction even if the scheme had continued?
Otherwise, if you did not seek to access your pension but left it deferred until Scheme Retirement Age, and gave up work to care for your wife, would you be entitled to benefits?
Up till now there has been requests by the company every year for volunteers for early retirement (over 55) with no reduction in pension. Problem now is due to the scheme closing they are saying there would be around a 5% reduction from 65 whereas the old scheme at request was from 60.0
