Taking a holiday while bankrupt

Will be starting a job at some point had a really dreadful & stressful few years with various serious things happening with my own health and others.
I would like a cheap holiday in Summer this year and my doctor has recommended it, can you go on holiday and how would you justify this in the income and expenditure etc?

Yes you can go on holiday and you are allowed to budget for this in your SOA, £20 per month per adult and £10 per month for a child is a reasonable amount.
Remember, in bankruptcy you are allowed to have a life and it's not a case of bread and water 7 days a week
having a holiday is reasonable and thus you can have one

Bankruptcy is like a confessional, once done you are absolved and not required to wear sack cloth and ashes and live like a hermit
unless you want to
or maybe you fancy a Hermit Holiday?0 -

Thanks this put me at ease and made be chuckle.
Well could somebody give me a run down of their own income and expenditure because if the average person has £200-£400 free money each week how on earth do you get away with it?
Also can't they request bank statements while you are bankrupt and do random checks?0 -

Exactly where has that figure sprung from? Also can't they request bank statements while you are bankrupt and do random checks?
Yes, the Official Receiver can do both....but they won't, and don't!
The BAnkrupt will have had their SOA agreed.
How the BAnkrupt choses to actually spend the monies from within the SOA is entirely up to the BAnkrupt.
The OR is not there to police spending......no-one is.
The so-called allowances are just that...allowances.
It is how, or whether, a surplus of income is identified.
For example, claiming for haircuts, is a perfectly acceptable allowance.
The OR does not demand a current photograph, to see if one is actually bald-as-a-coot!
Do not confuse fiddling, with good budgeting.....so there is nothing wrong with taking a holiday.
Exactly what sort of holiday, and how much it costs, is down to the individual...but, remember, the actual amount of money one has to play with, whilst BR, is going to be limited.......and it is unwise to enter into a debt situation again so soon.
Needless to say, I, personally, indulged in two holidays whilst Undischarged..both camping holidays, with my younger kids.....the biggest expense being, simply driving there.
Holidays are fine...go and get away for a bit...but...cut your cloth to suit, price-wise.No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

They do, I worked for a firm that handled the bankruptcy paperwork on behalf of two major banks and spent 2 hours a day opening such letters before logging, scanning and emailing the banks with such requests.0 -
The OR will obtain statements of account from Banks listed in a BAnkruptcy. To establish whether money assets have been hidden, to establish amounts of debt, and to establish whether excessive spending patterns existed prior to the date of petition. The OR has to construct a report on the 'reasons' that have been identified, for the Bankruptcy to have occurred in the first place.
On a day-to-day basis, however, the Official Receiver will not monitor and Undischarged BAnkrupts' expenditure from the domestic accounts.
It is the latter which is of concern to the OP.No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Not on a regular basis, they only do this if the person going BR cannot submit the required statements, or if the OR thinks that the person is not being honest with them. They do not do it for everyone, they do not have the time or resources to do it.:pB&SC No. 298
