re the discussion on benefits yesterday I was talking to someone whose OH is long term unemployed.
Does anyone know how the system now works for ones who have been out of work for over 6 months? I know you get JSA for x number of weeks but what happens after that length of time?
At the moment this chap has a voluntary work placement, its taken over a year to get this set up and in place (getting CRB checked was the hold up for another one he went for) , which is 16 hours a week, 4 afternoons of 4 hours and he also has to do 20 hours a week of job search so he has to go to some sort of job club centre every morning to do this.
The placement is only until the summer and then when this finishes they will probably put him onto another - its a work place that is almost totally run by volunteers, virtually no paid for staff.
also universal credit is coming in - not sure what this is but she says then he will have to do the 16 hours work placement plus 35 hours a week job search - not sure how as there are not enough hours in the week.
He says mainly the job centre place has a lot if youngsters who have to go to this centre to do job searching and various ready for work courses and they have to be there 35 hours a week.
I am not sure how you can search for jobs for a full 35 hours a week - in a city it would be very easy to fill 35 hours a week but a medium sized town in the midlands????
This chap is in his 50s so his age is against him along with a patchy work record - another friend worked in the local DHS office a very long time ago and she said that at that time once people got to their mid 50s then they did not even have to come in for interviews every fortnight, they just go auto signed off ..
But there is another thing, now that people are not getting their state pensions until much later, rising to 67, 69, I suppose eventually it will be 70 then there will be a rising number of people on JSA in their 60s - all looking for work and all having to sign on for JHA so they get their national insurance paid and a full state pension.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
All multis still showing so unless the update is late today or they do a second one as they seem to have recently I don't think Carex or any visible triggers in the 2 for £4 toiletries will work today0

That sounds like a lot of work mhoc, I'm sure you could easily do 35hrs to begin with, but after over a year you've probably done cv templates for most types of jobs and researched alot of the organisations you're likely to work for
I was on jsa for a while after my masters and hated every minute of itFinal cigarette smoked 02/01/18

The update isn't reflected on MSM just yet so unsure if it will work today. Yesterday multis were not showing in the app after the morning update was done. About 11:30am the afternoon update was done early to show the multi so many people thought it wouldn't work but the afternoon update isn't important, the morning one is the one to go by
Hi
Thank you so much for that. I really could not understand it. I will have a look later when it has been updated.
Take care

Heads up - W have reduced remaining Easter stock by 50% so a good time to get your Lindt 50g Gold Bunny now 80p with £1 Shopit, Cadbury Creme Eggs are 25p each (25p Shopit), box of 5 Cadbury Creme Eggs 90p, other reductions available
Lots of fruit and veg SEL RTC instore to clear Bank Holiday stock so worth an early visit - cucumber 10p, seedless red grapes £1.25, rooster potatoes 69p, seedless easy peelers 99p. Will likely be store specific depending on stock levels.
