We in Scotland have in the past have voted against the party that has won the UK election.
Seems to be quite a different outlook between the nations of the "union" (1707)

May reach back far beyond the reformation 1500's

Started in Dunkeld as far as I know, a revollt against a rich church that did not serve the poor, just took and made golden idols to be held in churches.
Basically, in Scotland, the old church that told people what to do was overthrown and a church serving the peolple was born. Strange enough there are little people who are church followers here, but the principal of serving the people is still a strong driver for people. Also the church here started free education for everyone.
Probably going on a bit too much, but worth checking out regarding all of our rich diversity

One of the most interesting points for me was from Plaid Cymru I think re an EU referendum. Stating that if we have one and the majority of Wales vote to stay in but eg England votes out of the EU why should other member countries of the UK be forced to follow England if their population has voted to stay in . An interesting twist I hadn't thought of at all.
I hesitate to add-I hadn't thought of it because in my head I think of the UK as being together and before I get trounced, being of Irish heritage I do certainly recognise all countries as countries in themselves.

Had to pick up on this part though, I guess people all over the UK could say the same if you segregate it into parts.

Because we are all one 'country' and even if we dont like it, we should do what the majority wants?? Perhaps?

I TOTALLY agree, religion should not be all and end of all. Look into the reformation and Scottish enlightenment and you will see that tolerence and inclusionism is fundemental. PS I am non religious, that is why I went to different religions to see what they were about and to understand them.
What I believe is intolerence between religions is actually lack of understanding
You are right and I'd go further its not just a lack of understanding it's a lack of the will to understand as if something frightening lies there...I am Catholic, by birth really though never felt the need to change but I've never seen division , for myself, in differing religions. More common areas than differences and I say that as an Irish Catholic so I've seen the damage that intolerence can do to all sides. Just makes me sad really.

Yes, And media seem to make the segredation worse by not showing how the home nations are different. Seems to a lot of people that London is the only consideration for centralised government.

So it is true, various areas have different opinions and should be proud of it, but to be open to the beliefs of others

As I have stated I have no "faith", but the early part of my life was in central Scotalnd. Not sure if people know that the "troubles" were also there in my childhood. Orange marches, IRA insignia, people targeted for their faith.

My parents were from North Scotland where diversity was normal and they have no "faith". I was six at primary school, a redhead, and parents friends were Catholic. I was beaten at school initially for them thinking I was catholic, then for having catholic friends.
Why oh why do people judge others, very sad
