I can port the mortgage!!

Options
Hello.

Thanks to those who replied to me about trying to get the money to pay off the remaining mortgage to move house. I can't find my original post, so replying here. We had been told we couldn't move the mortgage, hence the search for other ways of getting to move. Anyhow, rang our mortgage company in desperation again yesterday, spoke to someone else who said we can do a "like for like port", that the previous advice had been wrong. So, very happy. We can escape these noisy neighbours and get some peace!

Happy ending!

  • It's unbelievable how you hear different things depending on who you speak to, it shouldn't be like this! But it has also happened to us while applying for a mortgage. Glad you can have it sorted.

You will still need to pass full affordability for the mortgage on the property you intend to move to - there is nothing 'automatic' about being able to port, please be aware.

Anyway, having experienced my own issues with noisy neighbours, good luck to you in the move and the eventual peace :)

As I noted on another post earlier - you port the product agreement, not the mortgage agreement.
