At last it's AD day for me today, i was quite sad and stayed up until midnight to watch it change over to discharged. Feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, I know i have still got a BRU to my name for a few more years, but now i can start looking forward to the future and start saving for our family home.

Great news! It's a good feeling isn't it? My AD was 17th March. I've been accepted for Vanquis & Capital One credit cards & also now switched my bank acct to a Barclays basic one (because Co-op have closed the branches near me & it's a pain for paying cheques in). Onwards & upwards as they say. Credit file clean up next.
Good luck to you :-)SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65

It's a great feeling on discharge day isn't it :j ! the only way is up now.
Owlet, did you use the capital one soft search before you applied? I'm coming up to a year discharged but the soft search still says no chance

Yes I did use the cap one soft search & it said excellent. The MSE soft search gave me 0% chance with Cap one & vanquis. I decided what the hell and applied anyway. I figured that my credit file was screwed anyway & there was nothing to lose!! Vanquis I just applied for.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65

Thanks owlet. Well I applied, it wasn't a straight no but a 'we need to run additional checks, we'll let you know' I'm fully expecting a rejection letter, oh well at least I still have my vanquis card

Great news. However I'm not entirely sure what difference it makes. If you have a BRU or an IPA etc, then you are still restricted and paying for a few more years. I think for me only the 6 year cut off point will be the one that really makes the difference. Until then everyone can see your record, discharged or not.0

The only affect really for me is obtaining credit, didn't have an IPO/IPA. But at least if i do get any extra income i don't have to declare it now.0 -

I wonder in fact how many people do actually declare anything extra they receive. Judging by another comment on here, bank accounts aren't checked and there is no clarity about amounts that have to be notified so it's just down to individuals.
Anyway, that's off topic, good luck and keep letting us know how you get on moving onwards. Hearing other peoples stories is just so helpful.0
