Savings account for bankrupts??

I was wondering if anyone, post bankruptcy, has had any joy in opening a savings account?

I applied for one with the co-op (where my current account is now held) and unsurprisingly was turned down. I could really do with one to put the bits and pieces in that need keeping on a monthly basis for a yearly spend, i.e. road tax/MOT etc. I could always leave this in my current account but I'm worried I will end up spending it!

So does anyone know of anywhere??

I have a basic Nationwide bank account which allows for a e-savings account to be run along side it. so this may be worth a look.

A bonus is it can all be done online and transfers are instant to and from it if you have the bank account.

Likewise, Barclays do a similar thing. Around 4% interest on the e-Savings account OTTOMH.

Umm, I opened an ISA with the post office. just out of interest, why would a bankrupt be turned down for a savings account?

Neko I didn't think there would be but when I rang the Co-Op to chase up my application, they told me that they couldn't access the records at that time of night but that if I were bankrupt it would definitely be turned down as "there are strict rules regarding bankrupts having savings accounts". I think she may have just been talking about Co-Op saving accounts and not saving accounts in general.
