You're doing really well cutting back. Some fab ideas.
If I was you I would use the sun tan lotion on your face rather than the baby lotion. (As long as it isn't the waterproof variety coz you could end up looking like a greasy chip).
The baby lotion has cleansing properties so can have a drying effect when used on the skin frequently...well it did on mine anyway.
I used half a bottle of sun tan cream spf15 on this years holiday to Italy rather than buy a new bottle. As I loathe waste and just didn't want to throw it away.
And when I was over there...I was totally protected. I didn't burn once or even go red. It was 38 degrees celsius during the day too. So as long as your sun tan cream isn't years old I would still use it.
Hope you enjoy your hols to Florida

Hi everyone
I didn't get chance to post this morning so here I am now
I remembered to take a sandwich with me as well as some cereal today (yesterday I forgot and sucummed to the chip shop)
I haven't got round to baking yet but nobody has complained about jam butties to fill up on.
I still only need bread, milk, veg and potatoes so my food bill shouldn't be too bad this week.
Thanks for all ideas (I'm going to hang on to the sun tan lotion and I've already started knitting a blanket for winter)
The main thing I think I'm getting from this is that I need to put thought into what I do before I do it ( what I buy, how I do things etc)
Anyway enough from me for now

Good morning MSers
Its another lovely morning here and I'm working at home now till Tuesday.
I probably won't leave the house today (which defnately saves money if you don't go near any shops)
A bonus of not having loads of cakes and puds in the house is that I've lost a few pounds ( I thought i'd put my big shorts on which were the only ones that were comfy and they are too big :j which means that I've clothes in my wardrobe that were too small and they now fit :j
I've got loads to do but will make sure that I put tea on early so that I'm not tempted to go to the takeaway when I'm too tired to cook.
Any money that I physically save is going in a tin and then when I've enough it is going straight in my ISA so that I can't touch it.
If I start to waver I've found some sites (thanks to you lovely people) with Florida villas etc and look at what I can have as long as I can on saving
Anyway I'd better get on
Have a good day MSers

You're getting a lot of good tips to save for your holiday. I just wanted to tell you of some of the things we did when we went to Florida. We stopped in a place that included a free buffet breakfast in the price, and found that filled us up till the evening. We checked first to make sure doing it this way was cheaper than the price of a (different) hotel room plus paying for breakfast.
Our hotel also had a free cocktail bar from 5pm-7pm where all drinks were free. Again this suited our family as my kids were very young at the time and it was a time we were back at hotel and helped us to save costs on our holiday.0 -
Hi
Thankyou to Spendless for the idea. We stayed in a villa last time because there were more of us (theres only OH and me going this time)
Because we are only going in November we haven't booked yet and keep a daily check out for flights and offers hotel and villa wise (we found last time that the price of flights dropped drasticaly about 6 weeks before we went ( which was in spring last time)
When we went a couple of years ago one holiday firm was doing upgrades on BOGOF (which was alovely treat and worked out cheaper than paying seperately for your meals and drinks and you got extra entertainment and champagne or orange juice on takeoff
Part of the fun is the planning and the looking forward to going:j :j
Anyway better get back on with my jobs
Bye for now:rotfl: :rotfl:

Good morning
I finally managed to do some baking yesterday. I made 24 little cakes, a victoria sponge and 20 raisin biscuits. The whole family is home all weekend so I didn't bother freezing any. Its amazing how much you can make for the price of 1 bought cake.
I'm off to Tescos in a minute (with my carefully thought about list) and then the rest of the day will be ironing:eek: and cleaning (I'm a Blackpool landlady)
Anyway I'd better go for now
See you soon

hi just came home from holiday and what we done was go into travel agents with a date in mind and ask what late deals they have for area you want about 6 weeks before leaving, we saved about £800 for a family,if its a holiday you need just go to where you can afford with your savings in nov,i took out my insurance with travel agents as last year we used p office and you have to pay extra if you have slight medical problems (controlled asthma) you dont with travel agents its not much difference between them0

I've done two trips to Florida now. Where abouts are you hoping to stay? Orlando's slightly more expensive with toll roads to coin it in off the tourists, but if you stay around International Drive, there's a place called Sizzler which does an all you can eat breakfast buffet for about $2 a head, which fills you up all day
Also Pondorosa's good. They do lovely evening meals, which also has a buffet to go with your main meal for around $7.99. They do breakfast too, but I prefered Sizzler
If you're not around Orlando, just have a mooch around. You can't go far without finding a food place.
Look out for money off coupons too. They're everywhere over there.
Have a lovely time, it's really lovely over there.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
I'm a travel agent by trade and my first thought is for Florida it isn't always cheapest to buy from an agent-especially in November when airfares are low.
It's often cheaper to build your own package by checking out the airfare sites and the airlines direct. For example I paid £350 for a fare with American Airlines direct -expedia for the same dates and flights wanted over £400. Don't forget to check for suppliers who use Quidco too !
I booked my DS and his Dad into hotels in Orlando (Lake Buena Vista) in July using Priceline name your own price for $50 (£25) a night for a three star which was more than half price and saved £100 booking Disney etc passes online and avoiding Keith Prowse who are more expensive.
Travel agent insurance is almost always a LOT more expensive -you'll find equal cover for less (and Quidco cashback on top) on-line.
Never assume a package is automatically cheaper-always compare. You could be in for a nice surpriseI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

My main vice is buying loads of magazines,...:D
Mine was too until I've just managed to start going through some old mags I had, reading them again, then putting them out on the doorstep with a sign "Free mags, please take if you can use. Please recycle after use"
"Wanted, homestyling magazines, if you have any spare and wouldn't mind sharing I'd appreciate them".
Got rid of a load of mags this way, and got thanked by a bunch of people for doing so... and was given about 15 homestyling mags by someone else that kept me busy for a while!
Might be worth trying!0
