Went bankrupt in 2012 - can they sell my debt on?

I went bankrupt in 2012 and was discharged in July 2013....all creditors have played ball and changed the entries on my credit file to 'settled' or 'satisfied' with the correct default date.

However, ONE creditor is still causing me problems. Last year I wrote to Orange - now EE - who assured me that the default date details and status would be corrected to read 'partially settled'.

This was done in April of last year but I have checked my credit report this week and they have inserted it again at the start of this month! So my credit file - which I have kept clean and even improved my credit rating by having a Vanquis credit card - now says that this entry is a default as of 4 March!

I have complained to EE who have sent me this today saying it has been changed - my question to you is - can a creditor STILL sell on my debt even though it was included in my bankruptcy? If so, I dont see this issue ending in the future!

"We have checked and found that credit file may have been affected due to account sold to Lowell and again repurchased.

We have now updated the account to show as partially settled in [X] July 2013 with default date [X] July 2012 on all 3 credit reference agencies of UK. This has been updated in line with advice from the information commissioner and as per the changes made last . Therefore the default status and default balance will remain on the customer’s credit file.

The term 'partially settled' indicates that we have not recouped any debt due to the bankruptcy proceedings and the same will reflect on the credit file."

It can be sold on in a strictly legal sense, but any default and settlement date must remain as the original and stay in line with ICO guidelines.

The purchaser should not chase you for it, but may be unaware it was part of a bankruptcy until they are told.
