Incompetence of NHS payroll/HR staff defies belief!

Wife has been on long term sick. Trying to sort out accrued leave with her employer has been a nightmare.
Getting through to someone on the phone is impossible. Occasionally, you get answers to emails but not often. Requests for information are just ignored.
Its been months now (since before xmas) and was hoping it'd be all sorted this month. But no payslip wrong again. It really does defy belief how incompetent these people are.
They just don't seem interested in getting it sorted out.
Tried the union and they are not much help.
Not sure where I can escalate this. They owe her 25 hours pay still which is not looking good.
Is there any way to submit an official complaint?

Who exactly have you been speaking to around this, HR or payroll? Are they disputing that your wife is owed money or just saying they will pay it and then not doing it?
My previous Trust's payroll would never speak to individuals around their own pay. Protocol was they talk to HR and either HR or Finance talk to payroll. Payroll was outsourced and were literally a nightmare to deal with, which is why no one bar HR/Finance was meant to speak to them directly.0 -

Your wife needs to push this, its not your party.
Has her line manager been involved as this is their issue?

Dept steward, branch office or full time officer. What have they done?
I'd raise the issue with branch and have the secretary contact your wife (she's the member, not you).Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
Your wife has to request to take holiday while she is on the sick, it can be denied if the employer so wishes. She will still accrue leave though which she can carry over to the next holiday year if need be or be paid for if she leaves.0

Manager, Union, HR, Finance, Payroll - all of them.
Not disputing it or at least havent yet.0 -
What is the money that is 'owed'?0

it would be worrying if the employer did discuss one of their employee's personal circumstances with someone claiming to be her husband. Your wife needs to contact the employer and her union rep directly when she is well enough to do so.0

I had the same issue. It was a blinking nightmare. I got my money in a same day payment when the holiday had been authorised and ran correctly by the HR supervisor but payroll screwed it up- I threatened legal action. Told them if I didn't have the money by 4pm that day my solicitors would be in touch. I got the money at 3.15..*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

Accrued leave whilst on long term sick. Trust policy allows this be paid - in effect you temporarily halt sick.0 -

Like I said she is ill which is why she has given me power of attorney to do so.
Lucky really because all this hassle would make her even more ill.0 -

To be honest I'm wondering what we can do next. Been nice so far but its getting a bit much now.
The problem with them is they constantly screw things up, they dont answer emails or phone calls, and then just go and do what they want anyway.
This month they were supposed to pay the last 40 hours leave for the year. All agreed. Payslip turns up - they paid 14 hours.
Managed to get hold of them this time. Excuse - we've given you 14 days leave (no you havent its 14 hours!) and have used the rest to extend your period of half pay by two weeks.
Umm who told you to do that and why didnt you let me know? Also, you owe 26 hours still. Two weeks more half pay (wife works 17.5) = 17.5 hours. So its still short !!!!!!!0
