Yes a link please - I had a quick look at the Phones4U website and they dont list the K810, and the K800 and that was well over £100.

I think you're referring to the W810i, not the K810i which is only available on pay monthly from Phones 4 U.

Can the K810 in Marshall Ward be used on any network or will it be T-Mobile locked?

the thread at HDUK about this offer suggests its locked to T-Mobile (or Virgin as its the same network) and can be unbranded but not unlocked:

I dont know if they are actually locked though as I have one thats O2 branded yet is fully unlocked.

I presume yours is a contract phone? O2 contract phones are normally unlocked, PAYG handsets from all networks are normally locked (although sometimes not if they come from car phone warehouse or the link).

I would say these are 99% likely to be locked to T-Mobile.

Yes, its a contract phone which would explain it then. I thought PAYG were normally unlocked (or could be done if you called the provider up) as you have paid for the phone rather than subsidising it through the monthly rental which are normally locked?

Fraid not - PAYG phones are almost always locked - and there is a bit of "subsidy" going on as even the PAYG phones are normally cheaper than they would be SIM Free.

Most providers unlock for free if you have spend a certain amount on top-ups (for example Virgin unlock if you have topped up with £30 I believe).
  • Orange, Voda and T-Mobile will unlock the phone for you but you normally have to have had the phone/sim for a few months and then they will deduct between £15/20 worth of credit off the sim for doing it.

As for 3 .. well they are another story completely ...
