Well today is the day I declare myself bankrupt.
It's a very strange feeling even though my wife and I have discussed and planned it for over a year now.
Hopefully this is the bottom of the valley and things can only get better from here on in.
I'll update this thread with my experiences.

Well I did it.
My appointment at court was at 10 and I was all done by 12:30. Most of the time was spent waiting around. It took about 15 minutes to have my forms checked over and pay the fees then I had to go away and come back for my appointment with the judge at 12. The meeting was delayed a bit and lasted less than 3 minutes.
Everyone was very understanding and not at all judgemental. The judge asked me if I had exhausted all other options and when I explained briefly about my decision process he agreed based on what I said and the info on my forms that BR was the right option. He was very understanding and personable. He even explained the implications in a positive light.
I was super nervous about the whole thing but there was no need to get worked up about the court appointment. It was fine.
I can now start looking forward in my life. I can answer the phone and open my post without worrying.0 -
