In desperate need of moral support

Hi there thanks for reading dont know what's wrong with me but ive gone from the determined 'going to get my self sorted' to a very unsure, scared in debt person. I have started a DMP this month with the CCCS & letters have now started to come in from my creditors. Problem is no-one is happy to accept any proposal, they all want to default & one even wants to secure the loan against my home. Cant say i blame them 'cus with my DMP they're hardly getting anything and it will take over 30yrs to pay of pay debts why would they accept?!! I'm now wondering if i am doing the right thing surely the CCCS wouldnt have had advised a DMP if they didnt thing it would work? I'm going on holiday tomorrow & to be honest cant relax about going other than feeling guilty for going on something i should never had said i would, but also im scared as my mother-in-law is looking after the house, what if someone turns up on my doorstep even worse a bailiff or something??!! I'm getting nightmares as the more i read about defaults, CCJ's etc the more i feel i'm going to be made to go bankrupt & lose everything. I get the feeling every creditor is going to take me to court & this mess is just going to get worse & worse. I just want to dig a big hole & bury myself in it. What's going to happen to me? Please help!!!!

  • Hi,

Don't really know enough to be of much help but I couldn't read and not post! I would send a copy of every letter you've received to the CCCS, along with your case reference number. If it's possible, I would also write a letter to all your creditors asking them to deal with the CCCS direct - it would save you a lot of hassle. Check with the CCCS as to whether they will deal with them for you.

And congratulations - you've taken the first steps towards a debt-free life. If your creditors don't like how long it will take to pay them - tough! I'm sure they'll survive... :rotfl:

    Hi Sira,

Well done for facing your debts! I too am just starting my DMP with the CCCS. I too also went on holiday recently and felt guilty about it - but you need to go and enjoy yourself as much as you can.

Just remember the feeling you had when you decided to face this and contact CCCS - if like me, it was a huge weight lifted off your shoulders!

And.. there's one thing to remember - you're going on holiday knowing your dealing with it! :T :T :T

CCCS are there to help you, they've gone through your incomings and outgoings and they've identified what you can afford at this moment in time. I know you're going on holiday tomorrow - how long for? If you get chance ring CCCS first thing - i think they;re open from 8am and talk to them about the letters you've received, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help you and reassure you whilst you're away.

Good luck with everything and I'm sure lots of people on here will give you their moral support. Enjoy your holiday :o
  • Hi

Having been there and done that i can only advise you to stick at it. Five years ago we owed £50000 and with the invaluable help of the cccs (truly life savers) we pay our last debt off in October this year. It has been a hard slog but so worth it.

The start of a dmp is the hardest bit. We had default letters by the dozen, something i believe the creditors have to do to start their process. We had several rejections of offers initially but with help from ccs they backed down and accepted. Every phonecall we just said i'm dealing with cccs and asked for information in letter form which we forwarded to cccs. cccs would not advise a dmp if it was not doable.

i'm not sure but i think baliffs have to notify of a visit so shouldn't be an issue while u are away, although someone may correct me on this.

Anyway, good luck hun and try not to let it get you down.

Well on the way to being debt-free!!!! Hard work but will be worth it.

that is true. real bailiffs need a court order that you have defaulted on as well. probably wont happen in a DMP and there wont be enough time for it to get through the courts unless you are going on holiday for months.
