Tax Rebate

Hello

Just recieved my last payslip from work before the new tax year starts and I was hoping my tax rebate would have been included in it? I went on maternity leave half way through April 2014 and I continued to be taxed at the standard rate. Returned to work mid Jan 2015. Does anyone know if I need to wait for HMRC to send a cheque out or should I have had the rebate in my last wage packet?

Total Income - 12792.94
NIC - 622.13
Tax Paid - 606.00

Total Tax - 1,228.13

On those figures, you have overpaid tax of around £47. You'll need to phone HMRC to ask them to refund it.

Unless of course OP's tax code is 976 - what is the tax code used on the pay slip including any letters after the numbers ?

There are no special rates for tax while getting SMP your tax is done by your employer in exactly the same way as any other payments they may make. Assuming that your tax code is correct then your tax paid should be correct, if as has been suggested you advise your tax code then the tax figure you give can be checked.

With a 1000L code you should have paid £556.60 tax on PAYE so you are due a rebate.
