I've got a sofa which I think is damask fabric. It's in desperate need of a clean, but I've no idea how to do it. The covers are removable but there's no indication of whether I need to get them dry cleaned.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Damask refers to the weave, and it usually helps to know what the fibre content is to guess on cleaning. There should be a label somewhere that says that, unless it has been removed. Barring that if you know that manufacturer you may be able to find out online.
My best guess is that a machine wash on cold and line dry is probably a relatively safe bet, particularly if the covers are removable. Without the instructions, however, there is no guarantee. You could also try taking them into your dry cleaner and asking if they can dry clean them, although I'd only take them to one I had experience of and trusted as I've had some inexperienced dry cleaners assure me that something would be fine when I inquired about the risk and it decidedly wasn't.0
