Bankruptcy and tax debts

My self employed son-in-law has tax debts dating back to 2005. In short, he has never filed a tax return! HMRC have now caught up with him and his only way out is bankruptcy.

He does not own a house, has a van which he uses for his work and no real assets.

What I'm wanting to know is whether all his tax debts will be written off when he becomes bankrupt or will he still owe any? He has an appointment with the court Thurs 26/3/15.

We have been in touch with citizens advice, tax aid and business debt but are getting nowhere so though I'd take a chance on here and see if we could get an answer.

Thanks in anticipation
A very worried mum and mum-in-law
