:) I've given up on tinned tomatoes as you can get a 500g carton of passata cheaper/ same price than a can of basics tomatoes. I buy the ones in Liddly.

I used to have a small notoriety on MSE as the nutter who kept tinned tomatoes under her bed, I now keep cartons instead. It's more efficient as they don't waste any space.:rotfl:

I still buy cheap tinned tomatoes but I agree with you GreyQueen about passata. I buy the one from lidl or aldi and us it as a base when making casseroles in my slow cooker. I definately think it is better value doing this and you get a richer tasting result.

Indeed, diesel has gone down a bit in price, but its starting to creep up a little bit locally. I top up once a month so I do notice how much it is from month to month.
I noticed last week for some reason jelly cubes in the small packets seem to have become a regulation price of around 50p odd and there is very little price gap between the branded ones and the cheaper own make ones , dunno why as its not something I would have thought had much of a BBD,once around 35-40 now over 10p more Perhaps gelatine has gone up in price
I usually buy Elmlea long-life cream for my Sunday morning coffee with my DD and it had been 65p for ages ,now 70p+ yet milk has gone down in price. These things don't sound a lot on their own but collectively they all add up, 5p here and there mount up over the period of time until you forget what they used to be. I buy more or less the same stuff on a fairly regular basis, and only shopping 2-3 times a month perhaps notice it more than if I shopped more often.

My council tax has been frozen for the past five years despite my council getting one of the lowest government subsidies, but then it is a Tory council !! :p

    :T

Mine is a Tory council as well so what is your point?

The police commissioner has stung us with an 18.2% rise in council tax precept which we cannot get a referendum on until May 7th (polling day) which means we still have to pay a charge that we are angry about until then.

Plus an over inflationary rise on fire services, and an increase in the town council cut, this is how they pull the wool over your eyes. When council tax was introduced we didn't have these split services it was all in one, that is how they get away with saying your council tax hasn't risen
