Writing a will if I'm separated but not divorced

Had a look online at getting a basic will drafted, between now and getting divorced. My wife and I are separated, do I need to apply for a will as a married or single person? Are there specific wills that I need to use? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Do you have a death in service grant? Change that PDQ if needed.
Do you own a house (or mortgage one)? In whose names is it held and is it joint tenants or tenants in common?
Do you have life insurance? Change the beneficiaries?
I know of one couple where he was killed in an accident a week before the divorce became absolute. She got the lot; not bad since there were 2 kids with life-limiting illness but not what she expected. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
If you're thinking of looking at online Will templates you might be better not to at this stage.
Note that until you are divorced, at which point all your finances will be settled, your ex can make claims against your Estate up to the value of what they would receive under a divorce settlement. Without a Will they could get everything.
If you make a Will now through a Solicitor, specifying your alternate beneficiaries, it will be valid after your divorce so should last you a while.:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Thanks both. We live separately and each own a property, no children from the marriage. Just want to get something in place for now. Is an online will feasible?0

DIYing it is a big, indeed huge, mistake. Spend £150-200 and get it done by a solicitor not a "will writer".flash_cash wrote: »Thanks both. We live separately and each own a property, no children from the marriage. Just want to get something in place for now. Is an online will feasible?0
